The
Dandelion Story...
Despite strong efforts
to eradicate it, pulling, spraying, stomping on it, the dandelion stays
strong and resilient. Perhaps it stays strong because it knows it has
something important to offer the world. It is a good source of minerals
potassium, sodium, phosphorus and iron and is a richer source of vitamin A
than carrots!
Its
roots are used as a coffee substitute and the leaves are a strong
detoxifier, especially important to help detoxify our bodies from the
chemicals we are exposed to daily.
Chemicals such as
herbicides which are used for one thing, to kill dandelions can end up in
our drinking water, on our food and eventually in us!
It becomes ever-more important
that we help our bodies detoxify from these substances.
How?
By
using natural foods and herbs such as the nutrient-rich dandelion and
reducing our daily exposure to toxins. Early pioneers used to be very
happy to see the first sprouts of Dandelions to eat as a vegetable or for
internal cleansing. Nowadays, we cringe when we see that one little yellow
flower pop up in our yards.
The
Dandelion acts as a symbol of the tragic cycle of ill- health we all often
get ourselves into, and the simple remedies that can lie right in our
backyards.
